4. Compound-Complex Sentence:
➡ Two or more independent clauses + one or more dependent clauses.
Example:
- I wanted to play outside, but it was raining because the storm had just started.
- She didn’t go to the party because she was sick, yet she sent a gift.
A compound-complex sentence = at least two independent clauses + one dependent clause.
- Example: I stayed home because it rained, but my friend went out.
Each sentence has:
2 independent clauses (joined with and/but)
1 dependent clause (with because, if, when, although, etc.)
