Diary Entry 


12 June 1942

Friday,

8.00 pm.


Dear Kitty,


Today is one of the happiest days of my life. It is my thirteenth birthday, and I received a beautiful diary as a gift. I love it very much. I feel excited to write my thoughts and feelings in it. I have many friends, but I do not have one true friend with whom I can share my heart. I think this diary will always listen to me patiently. It will never laugh at me or judge me. I want to write about my school, my family, my dreams, and my daily experiences. I have decided to call my diary **"Kitty."** From today, Kitty will be my closest friend. I hope writing every day will make me feel happy, calm, and confident.
