What is Combining Sentences?
Combining means joining two sentences to form one meaningful sentence—without changing the meaning.
METHODS (ALL MODELS)
Using Adjectives
(Change one sentence into an adjective)
Pattern:
Sentence 1 + (who/which/that) + Sentence 2 → Remove verb → Use adjective
Examples:
- Ram is a boy. He is honest.
➡️ Ram is an honest boy.
- This is a flower. It is beautiful.
➡️ This is a beautiful flower.
2️⃣ Using Adverbs
(Change one sentence into an adverb)
π Examples:
He spoke. He was angry.
➡️ He spoke angrily.
- She sings. She is sweet.
➡️ She sings sweetly.
3️⃣ Using Prepositional Phrases
π Examples:
- The boy is playing. He is in the garden.
➡️ The boy is playing in the garden.
- The cat is sleeping. It is under the table.
➡️ The cat is sleeping under the table.
4️⃣ Using Participles (Very Important ⭐)
π Present Participle (verb + ing)
- He saw a snake. He ran away.
➡️ Seeing a snake, he ran away.
π Past Participle (V3)
- The man was tired. He sat down.
➡️ Tired, the man sat down.
5️⃣ Using Infinitives (to + verb)

- He has come. He wants to meet you.

(Adding extra information about a noun)

(Change one sentence into a noun phrase)
