Past Regrets  1. Structure: should have + V3 Usage: We use this when we didn’t do something in the past, but it was the right thing to do. Now, we regret not doing it. 2. shouldn't have + V3 We use this when we did something wrong in the past, and now we regret it. V3 means the past participle of the verb.  Examples: eat → eaten, go → gone, do → done, tell → told, etc. Examples – “Should have + V3” (Regret not doing something): I should have studied more. She should have called me. You should have told me. They should have apologized earlier. Examples – “Shouldn’t have + V3” (Regret doing something): I shouldn’t have eaten that.
