The word "robot" was first used in a 1920 play called R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots) by Karel Capek. The play tells the story of a factory that produces robots that are so lifelike that they are indistinguishable from humans. The robots eventually become self-aware and rebel against their human masters.

The idea of robots has been around for centuries, but it was not until the 20th century that robots began to be developed in earnest. The first robots were simple machines that could perform a few basic tasks. However, as technology has advanced, robots have become increasingly sophisticated. Today, robots are used in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and customer service.

Robots are becoming increasingly important in our society. They can perform tasks that are dangerous or tedious for humans, and they can work around the clock without getting tired. Robots are also becoming more affordable, which means that they are becoming more accessible to businesses and individuals.

However, there are also concerns about the rise of robots. Some people worry that robots will take

away jobs from humans. Others worry that robots will become so intelligent that they will pose a threat to humanity. Only time will tell how the rise of robots will ultimately affect our society. However, one thing is for sure: robots are here to stay.

Questions:

1. What is the origin of the word "robot"?
